Establishing a customer support structure through widespread networks

In an era in which business is increasingly globalized and borderless, Tomen Chemical is actively expanding its business activities throughout the world, in order to respond to our customers' needs. Through our own independent network and also through the Toyota Tsusho Group network we have realized excellent information gathering capabilities, wide-ranging procurement capacity, and stable supply capabilities. What is more, we are building strong cooperative relationships with various leading companies overseas. We have created an expansivenetwork that includes major raw material, additive, and indirect materials manufacturers and we can also respond to domestic demand utilizing price competitive products, technologies and services from overseas. Staff involved in the network share information on processes and knowledge, and this ensures that we maintain a structure that supports borderless business activities in an accurate and timely manner.

In addition, in order to support our customers' overseas businesses, it is of course important for us to have the required manpower in place. Regardless of the developments that have been made in IT, person-to-person communication and coordination skills are more important than ever before and the fact remains unchanged that it is people who are the single largest factor in ensuring the success of any business. Tomen Chemical is making efforts to nurture human resources in every area of our business. These people will be able to provide optimal solutions to customers, offering a global perspective and incorporate global concepts and methods.

Reflecting the trends and needs of the times by constantly incorporating innovation in business

Tomen Chemical provides a wide range of products, technologies and services, centered on the two major fields of fine chemicals and organic chemicals. We engage in a constant process of self-improvement, not clinging to existing businesses, but instead seeking to constantly innovate. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen our core business areas, in addition to which we will take up the challenge of gaining a stronger foothold in niche markets, expanding our business activities from everything including universal products to specialized and expert products. We will also develop proposal-based new businesses, bringing about a synergetic effect through cooperative actions among various divisions within the company as we input the experience and know-how we have accumulated into each new business area.

At the same time, given the recent rising awareness of environmental and health issues, the chemical industry is required to make further innovative responses. All of the food additives handled by Tomen Chemical to date have been naturally derived products, created from plants or agricultural products, or by using extraction or fermentation techniques from natural products. We are also making efforts to develop, introduce and supply products in other areas of our business that are considerate of the environment and safe in terms of impact on human health. Some examples of the results of our efforts include: an environmentally friendly urethane expanding agent, natural ingredients for cosmetics sourced from plants, oleo-chemical products created not from petroleum but from plant-based oils, and sugarcane bagasse pulp that contributes to the conservation of forest resources. Based on our vision, determination and implementation skills, Tomen Chemical aims to contribute to further industrial development and also contribute to the society of the future.
